April 14, 2010 - NPD RECEIVES REACCREDITATION AND "FLAGSHIP" AWARD
On Saturday March 27th representatives from the Nashua Police Department received its reaccreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) while attending the CALEA Conference in Dallas, Texas. The department was also recognized by CALEA as being a Flagship Agency. A Flagship designation is awarded to agencies that represent an extraordinary example of excellence in all aspects of law enforcement. The Nashua Police Department had previously received the Meritorious Award as a department that has maintained accredited status for over 15 years.
A team of assessors from CALEA inspected all aspects of the Nashua Police Department from December 12 thru 15, 2009. The team found the Nashua Police Department to be in-compliance with all 462 accreditation standards. The assessment team completed a comprehensive report covering all aspects of the department. The report recognized the department for outstanding work in the area of Community Policing, Administration, Financial Services and Training. The assessment team also praised the agency for continuing to provide outstanding police work despite the need for more officers.
Law Enforcement Accreditation process is a system that covers all aspects of law enforcement. It provides the department with the best practices covering management, organization, operations and support functions of law enforcement.
The Nashua Police Department was first accredited in 1991 and is required to be reaccredited every three years.
