March 06, 2012 - NPD begins Computer Forensic Examinations
The Nashua Police Department Youth Services Division has recently implemented a process to more efficiently investigate crimes involving computers, cellular phones and other mobile devices. With constantly changing and advancing technology these devices are frequently found to be of evidentiary value in investigations and the proper handling and analysis of the those devices is gaining importance in prosecution of all types of crimes.
Two Detectives have been specially trained in the handling and processing of digital evidence. These Detectives continually attend in-service training in order to keep up-to-date with current trends in computer related crimes, as well as techniques to investigate them. The department has a computer laboratory capable of processing all types of computer evidence. The detectives work closely with the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children (NH ICAC) Task Force to investigate crimes involving child exploitation and technology, both in Nashua as well as in other areas of the state.
