May 08, 2012 - Purse Theft Warning

The Nashua Police Department is warning residents to use caution in light of a recent theft of a purse that occurred on 5-5-12 at approximately 1:00 in Mine Falls Park.

The female victim reported that while on one of the paths east of Whipple Street in Nashua she was approached by a male suspect who forcefully stole her purse from her and fled in an easterly direction. A Good Samaritan jogger passing by observed what occurred and chased after the suspect and was able to retrieve the victim’s purse which the suspect dropped. The victim was not injured. The Good Samaritan jogger left prior to being indentified and is encouraged to contact the Nashua Police regarding this incident.

The suspect was described as a tall white male in his late teens wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black pants. This appears to be an isolated incident at this time.

Joggers or walkers are encouraged to do so with a partner, be aware of their surroundings at all times and to be on the lookout for anyone behaving suspiciously.

The Nashua Police requests that anyone who may have information in connection with this incident contact the Nashua Crime Line at (603) 589-1665 or the Nashua Police Criminal Investigation Bureau at (603) 594-3500.
