On Saturday, October 26, 2013 between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., the Nashua Police Department in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will coordinate a third nationwide one-day collaborative effort with state and local law enforcement agencies to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from our nation’s homes. This national initiative will again provide an opportunity for the public to surrender pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. Expired, unused, or unwanted controlled substances in our homes are a potential source of supply for the increasing abuse of pharmaceutical drugs in the United States and an unacceptable risk to public health and safety.
The program is designed to help the citizens of this community dispose of their unused or out date prescription drugs in a legal manner. The location of this event will take place at the DPW garage located on Stadium Drive, Nashua, NH. The garage itself is behind the Conway arena and beside Stellos Stadium right off of Riverside Dr. Traffic cones will be setup to direct traffic around the building and into a bay within the garage were the prescriptions will be dropped off. The prescriptions can be dropped off in the original containers and no questions asked. I would encourage the citizens of this community to take advantage of this program and help us in the disposal of these drugs, and help keep them off the streets and out of our water supplies.
