February 07, 2014 - OFFICER KARLIS AWARDED COMMENDATION BAR FOR LIFE SAVING
On October 26th, 2013 at approximately 3:30 pm, Nashua Police Officer Andrew Karlis was on routine patrol on Kinsley Street near Ash Street when he observed an adult female walking on the sidewalk. The woman appeared unsteady on her feet and stumbled to the ground. There were no other people around the woman and her underlying medical condition was not known.
Officer Karlis immediately stopped his cruiser and attended to the woman. Officer Karlis made observations that the woman was not breathing, had no pulse and was turning blue. He requested an ambulance and began to perform CPR. After a short period of time, the woman resumed breathing on her own. Medical personnel arrived and took over treatment. The woman was identified as a 25 year old Nashua resident. The woman was later transported to the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for treatment.
Officer Karlis’ knowledge, experience and decisive action resulted in saving a young woman’s life. Officer Karlis has recently been awarded the Nashua Police Department’s Commendation Bar for Life Saving.
