The Official Website of the Nashua Police Department - Nashua, NH - Get Involved / Senior Relations / Vial of Life
Too often, police officers respond to local residences for medical emergencies, and they cannot obtain medical information from the victims. Because of this, the Nashua Police Department implemented our Vial of Life Program. With a focus on senior citizens, our Senior Relations Officer meets with and distributes vials to local residents. The residents then put pertinent medical information in the vial and store it in their refrigerator.

A red heart sticker is placed on the refrigerator door near the handle to indicate the presence of a Vial of Life. Besides, the red heart magnet, all names and addresses of persons with vials are linked to our Computer-Aided Dispatch program. When responding to a medical emergency at a residence that was issued a vial, dispatchers will know that personnel can obtain medical information in the refrigerator. This is very important, especially in emergency situations where the victim is unable to speak.
